WHAT TO WEAR AND EAT WHILE IN SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO

Updated: Apr 26, 2020

Whenever I am vacationing in humid destinations, I am more mindful of what I pack so I can stay comfortable. I gravitate towards 100% cotton and linen pieces, non-constricting dresses and jumpsuits, and tissue-thin t-shirts. If you live in a humid area or are traveling to a humid area soon, here are some tips on dressing in humidity.

Puerto Rico, set on the warm Caribbean waters and grazed with constant tropical breezes, can be that perfect warm destination. It is good to know that packing for a trip to Puerto Rico is done a bit different, try to pack as light as possible. You want to be comfortable and able to move around with ease.

You can pack all this in a decent sized carry on bag:

What to pack? What to wear?

Lightweight clothes – Puerto Rico’s weather is hot and very humid year round, so try to dress as comfortable and as light as possible.

Dresses - A dress is always my go-to for humid weather because the silhouette is light and airy. You can easily throw one on in a pretty print or vibrant color.

Shorts, lots of shorts! – With an average of 85°F to 95°F, it is likely you will want to wear shorts – plus, it’s time to tan those legs!

Sandals/Flats – You’ll see it’s quite common to see people walking the city with their sandals/flats. It’s just comfortable and great for the hot weather.

Swimwear- You WILL go to the beach. Enough said.

Sunglasses – Protect your eyes and look cool, you’re in paradise!

Accessories - Accessories are my thing and spice up any look. They are a must.

Things to do? Where to eat?

La Plactia - A must go to spot, it’s like a big block party with various restaurants, bars and street dancing.

El Yunke - Rainforest is a must for nature lovers.

Barrachina - Creators of the Pina Colada.

Casita Miramar- Thank me later, my favorite.

Pinones- Indulge in the street food. Fried and yummy foods.

San Juan Food Tour- a little taste of PR.

Poet's Passage - Art and coffee lovers welcomed.
