Neutrals. I can’t get enough of them. I love the fact that you can mix and match so effortlessly with neutrals. And when a wardrobe is built around the foundation of neutrals, it makes for endless outfit combinations. Tan, black, white, denim, and grey; you pick the color - the perfect neutral color palette.

When shopping for neutrals it is key to look for pieces that are great on their own. Meaning, there isn’t much of a challenge when thinking about what to pair a tan trench coat with. The goal is to have staple neutrals that still make a statement and can be worn in numerous outfit combos. It starts to get so much more-interesting when the same color is worn throughout the look.- stay tuned for blog post on same color looks.

I’m always searching for new neutrals to add to my wardrobe especially this time of year, when it gets a little chilly. This particular trench coat is one of my favorite pieces to wear this season. I love the details and the elegance this piece brings to the outfit, it is definitely a statement neutral.
When it comes to wearing neutrals, there are a few things to keep in mind:
Don’t be afraid to mix textures. Actually you want to do this. In this outfit I mixed cotton, leather and denim for added interest.
Look for different color. Adding some color in your lips adds depth and boldness to the look, this way it doesn’t seem so flat; yet striking.
Add accessories that pop. I could have chosen a black handbag, but instead I opted for burgundy, which helps make this ensemble really stand out.
