NEUTRALS

Neutrals. I can’t get enough of them. I love the fact that you can mix and match so effortlessly with neutrals. And when a wardrobe is built around the foundation of neutrals, it makes for endless outfit combinations. Tan, black, white, denim, and grey; you pick the color - the perfect neutral color palette.

When shopping for neutrals it is key to look for pieces that are great on their own. Meaning, there isn’t much of a challenge when thinking about what to pair a tan trench coat with. The goal is to have staple neutrals that still make a statement and can be worn in numerous outfit combos. It starts to get so much more-interesting when the same color is worn throughout the look.- stay tuned for blog post on same color looks.

I’m always searching for new neutrals to add to my wardrobe especially this time of year, when it gets a little chilly. This particular trench coat is one of my favorite pieces to wear this season. I love the details and the elegance this piece brings to the outfit, it is definitely a statement neutral.

When it comes to wearing neutrals, there are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Don’t be afraid to mix textures. Actually you want to do this. In this outfit I mixed cotton, leather and denim for added interest.

  • Look for different color. Adding some color in your lips adds depth and boldness to the look, this way it doesn’t seem so flat; yet striking.

  • Add accessories that pop. I could have chosen a black handbag, but instead I opted for burgundy, which helps make this ensemble really stand out.
